Jaaskelainen Aims For Top Ten Finish

Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen has urged his team mates to shrug off the disappointment of Saturday's defeat to Middlesbrough and aim for a top ten finish

The Finnish international stopper beleives that relegation isn't an issue for the Wanderers but says that the team have to play better in the remaining fixtures over the next six weeks and perform to the levels which saw them unlucky to miss out against Arsenal and Chelsea in recent weeks, games which Jaaskelainen beleives are the best the club has played since their return to the Premiership in 2001.

"We played three good games before Middlesbrough. It was a big disappointment because the level we reached in the previous matches was the best we had played in the last three years, even though we lost two of the games." Jaaskelainen told the Manchester Evening News

"We had a chance of points at Arsenal, which was quite good, and we did well against Newcastle. So it was disappointing to drop our level at Middlesbrough."

The 28-year old beleives that Bolton have a better side than in previous years and feels that just finishing outside the drop zone would no longer be acceptable enough for a team which has exceeded initial expectations this season by reaching a major domestic cup final and sitting in mid table.

"The way we have been playing this season I have no worries at all about staying up.It would be disappointing for us if we finished just above the drop zone, like we have in the last two seasons, because that is not good enough for us any more. We are a better side than in the last two years but we have to keep up our levels of consistency. We have to play better as a team on Saturday and get ourselves into the top ten, it's as simple as that." he added
