Bolton Wanderers full back Nicky Hunt has become the latest player to commit his future to the club after signing a new four year contract which will see him remain at the Reebok Stadium until 2008.

Hunt 20, made the breakthrough from reserve team football last summer to become a regular in the first team line up as he made the right-back position his own during the clubs most successful season in decades. Midway through the season he earned international recognition with the England U21 team and is developing into one of the games brightest defenders.

The Westhoughton born star signed professionally with the club in May 2001, making his debut against Sheffield United at the Reebok Stadium the same month. He had to wait for further first team opportunities as his next league game came in the dauting surroundings of Old Trafford on the opening day of the 2003-2004 season as Bolton faced arch rivals Manchester United. He convinced the Bolton manager Sam Allardyce and the supporters that he was worthy of a first team place this resulting in a longer term contract for the lifelong Wanderers supporter.

Speaking about his new deal the young full back told the clubs official site that he was happy to commit to his hometown team

"I was more than happy to commit to my hometown team for the next four years" he said

Hunt is joined by veteran goalkeeper Kevin Poole who has signed a new one year extension to his current deal. Poole was signed from Birmingham City as cover for Jussi Jaaskelainen nearly three years ago and his new deal will take him past his 41st birthday to become the second oldest post war Bolton player to have represented the club.
