Spurs coach Chris Hughton has praised his side following their fightback during last night's Carling Cup win over Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium.

The London club came from behind twice during normal time to force the game into extra time were they ultimately finished the game off with two further goals to win 4-3 to set up a fourth round date at Burnley and the former Republic of Ireland star was glad to see the players rise to the challenge against a very difficult Wanderers team slightly tinkered from the one which they faced in the Premiership just a few days before.

"We were aware this was going to be a difficult game irrespective of what team Sam put out,"

"You are looking for players to rise to the challenge and to get through in whichever fashion is very pleasing.

"We showed a lot of character to come back from being twice behind. The determination of the players, especially having to go through an extra 30 minutes says a lot about them."
