Colin Hendry - first steps in management
Former Scotland captain Colin Hendry has ended his absence from the professional game by being appointed as the new manager of Second Division outfit Blackpool.

The 38-year old replaces former Liverpool star Steve McMahon in the Seasiders hot seat to take his first steps on the managerial ladder and chairman Karl Oysten feels that the one time Bolton Wanderers defender is the right man to take the famous Lancashire club forward beating off competition from ex-Bury manager Andy Preece, also an ex-Blackpool player and the one time manager of Iceland, Stoke City and Barnsley Gudjon Thordason.

Hendry is well known in the Lancashire area having represented Blackburn Rovers, Manchester City, Bolton, Preston North End and Blackpool during his long and distinguished playing days which ended last summer when Sam Allardyce released the experienced international when his contract at the Wanderers came to an end.

We at BoltonMAD wish Colin all the best during his spell at Blackpool.
