Israelian trialist Tal Ben Haim is set to become Bolton Wanderers fifth signing of the close season providing he can be granted a work permit application.

The 22-year old centre half has impressed Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce this week during the Trotters pre-season tour of Portugal and is seen as a player with vast potential who will go on to greater heights in the game.

Haim is currently with Maccabi Tel Aviv in his homeland and is a hot prospect in his home country. The player will sign a three year contract and will cost 250,000 euros should he complete a move to the Reebok Stadium.

Meanwhile Allardyce is also closing in on the former Real Madrid ace Julio Cesar but the Brazilian is said to have a number of offers waiting for him having left Spanish club Real Valladolid at the end of last season.

A need to strengthen his defensive hand is a priority for the Bolton boss Big Sam having been informed that Frenchman Florent Laville has suffered a setback in his attempts to come back from knee ligament damage sustained ten months ago in a match against Middlesbrough.
