Gary Talks About Quick Move

Gary Speed has passed a routine medical and is now officially a Bolton Wanderers player. The Welsh international will join Les Ferdinand, Michael Bridges and Radhi Jaidi as the fourth new arrival at the Reebok Stadium this summer.

The 34-year old told the clubs official site www.bwfc.co.uk that he hadn't had time to think about the move to Lancashire too much as it all happened so quickly but has been impressed with his new surroundings thus far although admitting it was a wrench to leave a six and a half year spell with Newcastle United.

"I have not really had time to think about it to be honest. My first impression of the club however is fantastic, very professional including Sam (Allardyce) and some of the other staff and they made me feel very welcome"

Speed admitted he found it hard to leave the North East behind after over 200 appearances on Tyneside but is looking forward to his new career back in the North West with the Wanderers.

"With the circumstances at Newcastle I didn't particularly want to leave but the club made an offer and it showed that Bolton wanted me here. There were other clubs interested in me but it was Bolton who stuck their neck out and I appreciated that" said the ex-Leeds man

Speed is expected to play some part in the weekend friendly against Bradford City in a testimonial match for long serving Bantams defender Wayne Jacobs.
