Former Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Mark Walton has left Britain to link up with Australian First Division side Bentleigh Greens as Player-Coach following his release by Cardiff City.

The 34-year old left Ninian Park during the summer having become the fourth choice goalkeeper for the Bluebirds behind Neil Alexander, Martyn Margetson and youngster Aaron Lee-Barratt and was without a club until the Greens made their move to take the Welshman down under where he will combine his playing role to that of Goalkeeping Coach.

A former Wales B international and the son of former Swansea City goalkeeper Ron Walton he made 3 appearances for Bolton back in the 1993-1994 season when covering for Aidan Davison and the injured Keith Branagan. The veteran has had extensive experience with a number of league and non league clubs during a career which has spanned over 17 years and included a spell in Hong Kong following his release by the Wanderers.
