Bolton comfortably despatched of top Maltese side Floriana in the Dennis Cauchi testimonial in what was the final game of their tour of Malta with a 5-1 victory in which former Huddersfield Town striker Delroy Facey hit a brace for the Wanderers.

Henrik Pedersen put Bolton in front on three minutes, Jay-Jay Okocha's long throw was flicked on by Florent Laville and the former Danish international was quick to react heading the ball past Matthew Camilleri in the Floriana goal.

Okocha then tested Camilleri with an effort of his own when his thunderbolt was directed out of play by the young goalkeeper for a corner but even in the early stages it was clear to see who was the better team.

Stelios Giannakopoulos hit the second with a thunderous volley on 23 minutes which was his first goal for the club. Henrik Pedersen's cross was headed into the path of the Greek international by Delroy Facey and the former Olympiakos winger powered an unstoppable shot to make the score 2-0, he could of gotten his second and the Wanderers third soon after with a powerful drive but Camilleri was equal to the shot.

Sam Allardyce introduced trialist Ibrahim Ba and England U21 international Kevin Nolan at Half Time and within minutes Nolan tested the Floriana keeper with a strong 30-yard drive.

On 50 minutes the Trotters put the game beyond doubt, Pedersen's cross was met by Delroy Facey and despite making a hash of his first header the young striker picked up the pieces by slotting home the loose ball. A couple of minutes later he added his second and Wanderers fourth when he fired home following good work by Pedersen and Giannakopoulos.

Kevin Davies, Per Frandsen, Jeff Smith and Jonathan Walters where all introduced as Stelios Giannakopoulos, Henrik Pedersen, Simon Charlton and two goal hero Delroy Facey made way but the home side offered little and the result seem much a formality.

Ivan Campo then gave away a penalty to give the home side something to cheer about when he was adjudged to have fouled Greens striker Jonathan Holland. Brazilian trialist Bisu stepped up confidently to put the spot kick past veteran Wanderers stopper Kevin Poole.

Ibrahim Ba did his chances of a permanent move to Bolton no harm at all when adding a fifth for the Wanderers on 88 minutes when he stabbed home a cross by fellow substitute Kevin Davies. The 5-1 win means Wanderers are the 2003 winners of the Floriana Cup and they will be presented with their trophy tommorow evening.
