Bolton midfielder Khalilou Fadiga claims that fainting was not the reason for his sudden collapse prior to the game with Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.

Tests on the Senegal international came back clear but the medical professionals who conducted the examinations are still unclear as to why the former Auxerre player fell into a short period of unconsiousness.

Fadiga himself says that he felt hot and needed to take a rest and is hopeful of making a quick return to action.

"Contrary to what has been said, I didn't faint," Fadiga told L'Equipe.

"It was just like as if I was very hot inside of me, I was not fine and I preferred to lie down.

"Then they sent me to hospital to have examinations that didn't reveal anything. I had a little muscular trouble. I will take advantage to cure it and have some rest but that's all."
