Ex-Wanderer Stig In Trouble Again

Last updated : 07 December 2004 By Mark Heys
Former Bolton Wanderers and Denmark midfielder Stig Tofting has been sacked by his club AGF Aarhus after he was involved in a brawl with a team mate during the club's Christmas party.

AGF have immediately activated a release clause in Tofting's contract and the veteran midfield hardman now looks to be considering retirement after this latest incident.

Tofting joined Bolton in February 2002 from German Bundesliga club SV Hamburg and quickly became a crowd favourite at the Reebok Stadium.

Sadly he was to only make a handful of appearances in the first team for Bolton as his contract was cancelled early following an incident of assault in a restaurant after the 2002 World Cup.

The 35-year old, nicknamed "The Lawnmower", has played in the beautiful game for nearly two decades having started out with his hometown club AGF back in 1988. He has also played for MSV Duisburg in Germany and had a spell in China with Taijin Taida.
