"Everton chairman Bill Kenwright and his Crystal Palace counterpart Simon Jordan have reached agreement for the possible transfer of the England international striker Andrew Johnson," read the club's official website.

It is believed that 25-year-old Johnson will discuss a move with the Toffees on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Newcastle boss Glenn Roeder is set for talks with young winger James Milner over his future at the club, after Aston Villa were joined in the race for the players signature by both Wigan and Bolton.

Roeder said: "James has rejoined Newcastle United and I will be speaking to him over the weekend, I have not met him personally but I am looking forward to seeing how he feels and having a chat.

"I will have a good chat with him to hear how he feels and he can get to know how I feel but I am happy for him to come back to the North East.

"We will just have to see how things go from there, he did well at Aston Villa and it isn't a surprise that they wanted to keep him," he told icNewcastle.
