Sam Allardyce has not given up hope in his attempts to persuade French veteran Youri Djorkaeff to return to Bolton Wanderers next season stating that the door is still open for the player.

The 36-year old rejected the initial one year contract which was put to him over the summer but Allardyce has refused to give up on the former Inter Milan star who made a massive impression in his two year stay with the Lancashire club.

Djorkaeff is said to have offers to play in Qatar but as yet has signed nothing going into the new campaign this outlining fresh hope that the player may once again don the Wanderers jersey.

"I don't think the door is slammed shut, It's still slightly ajar. We just have to wait and see" Allardyce told the Bolton Evening News
