Djorkaeff Facing Uncertain Future

Last updated : 07 December 2004 By Mark Heys
Reports this morning suggest that former Bolton favourite Youri Djorkaeff could be on his way out of Blackburn Rovers after only a couple of months with the Ewood Park club.

Djorkaeff 36, left Wanderers in the summer after refusing the fresh contract terms which were put to him, and now it seems he may be on the lookout for another club in a bid to prolong his twenty year playing career which began with Grenoble as a 16 year old back in 1984.

The former French international has started just a handful of games since his move across Lancashire, with injury taking it's toll on the one time Inter Milan and Kaiserslautern star in recent weeks.

Rovers boss Mark Hughes is keen to see more of Djorkaeff in action, but all depends on whether or not he can overcome these current injury problems successfully.

He is expected to be out of action until the New Year period and this coincides with the expiry of his current deal with Rovers. French minnows Entente Sannois Saint-Gratien are set to line up an audacious swoop for the veteran.
