Bolton Wanderers striker Kevin Davies has told the club that he will be more than happy to extent his current contract beyond this season.

The 26-year old moved to the Reebok Stadium in the summer following a frustrating few years at Southampton and the return North for the Sheffield-born player has proved to be a succesful decision having found a new lease of life with the Trotters.

Davies, who has also had spells at Chesterfield, Blackburn Rovers and Millwall, is the current top goalscorer for Wanderers in the Premiership and his workrate and commitment have endeared him to both the fans and his manager Sam Allardyce who has made the former England U21 player his main striker ahead of the more experienced Mario Jardel and Henrik Pedersen.

"I signed a one-year deal and nothing has been said about a new contract I'll take it one game at a time and when they are ready to speak I will listen. I'd be happy to sign a new contract with Bolton" Davies said
