Bolton Wanderers have offered a contract to trialist Kevin Davies after he impressed the club during two weeks on trial. Terms have been agreed and the deal is on the table and all that is needed now is for the 26-year old striker to pass a routine medical.

The former Chesterfield and Blackburn star was released by Southampton over the summer after nearly four years into a second spell with the Saints and he is keen to get his once promising career back on track at the Reebok Stadium.

The player acknowledges his career has faltered in the past couple of seasons but admits he is eager to do well in his second stint in the North West "My confidence has been low over the past two years and its nice to feel wanted. I've got a lot a lot to prove, but i don't want to say too much about that until i can go out there and do it" he told the clubs official site.

"I've agreed terms and everything, its just a case of passing the medical. I'm in good health and once thats over i can get on with what i want to do" he confirmed

"Now i can't wait to get as fit as i can and get my place in the team. I've got a chance in the Premiership" added the former England U21 player.

Bolton manager Sam Allardyce was keen to get Davies on board after a couple of impressive performances on the clubs tour of Northern Ireland and a goal in the 4-0 win over Portadown on Saturday did the players chances no harm at all.

Although the length of contract hasnt been specified it is expected it will be on a short term basis with an option to extend should the player exceed expectation.
