Davies calls for forward reinforcements

The 33-year-old captain has been Wanderers' top scorer for the past two seasons (with tallies of 12 and nine) but he accepts they have to add more goals to the side if they want to move into the top half of the table.

Bolton were linked with Portsmouth's on-loan Lens striker Aruna Dindane but it appears unlikely that deal will come off.

That increases the possibility of Ivan Klasnic returning after his season-long loan from Nantes, providing a deal can be struck over his wages, but Davies would still like another forward to sign.

"It would be good to see another couple of strikers come in," he said.

"There's always been competition for places at the club, especially up front.

"We've had some great strikers here and I've always managed to stay in the side - but it's not about me, it's about the team.

"I feel as though I can still play and do a job for the team and I'm enjoying every minute of it."

After finishing 14th in the Premier League, having been involved in a relegation battle for much of the season, Davies believes the club have to set their targets higher.

"We want to set ourselves a top-10 finish, and if we start the season right with our confidence up and get points on the board, then who knows where we can go?" he told the Bolton News.
