Coyle dismisses Ferguson comments

Bolton manager Owen Coyle has laughed off Sir Alex Ferguson's suggestion that Chelsea are in for an "easy" game when they host Wanderers on Tuesday.United drew with Blackburn on Sunday which means a Chelsea victory will put them four points clear at the top of the table with only four games left.

Coyle said: "Maybe Ferguson is trying to put a bit of pressure on Chelsea.

"We believe we can get something from the game. I'll concentrate on what we can do and not what anyone else says."

Coyle added: "That's why we love football, because everyone's got an opinion.

If we don't win the title then we bottled it, simple as that. If a Fergie comment makes us bottle it then we don't deserve to win it

"Everyone has written us off but I've been in that position before and gone to Chelsea and won, as I did with Burnley in the cup. I can assure you it can be done."

Ferguson's comments have been perceived as another example of mind games from the Manchester United manager.

Kevin Keegan famously lost his cool in a live television interview in 1996 when his Newcastle side were challenging United for the Premier League title, claiming he would "love it" if the Magpies won the race.

Since then Ferguson has been involved in long-running feuds with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, as well as more recent rows with Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez and Jose Mourinho, when he was in charge at Chelsea.

Current Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti also brushed aside the suggestions that his team would be in for an easy ride against a Bolton team fighting to avoid relegation.

Ancelotti dismisses Ferguson 'mind games'

"I hope that Alex is correct [in saying it is an easy match]," said Ancelotti.

"Maybe before you can say it will be easy but I haven't played an easy game this season.

"Blackburn drew against United and that was a good result for us, but only if we win on Tuesday.

"No matches are easy, even if you go out and score a lot of goals in the game itself. No, it's mind games. Ferguson is clever.

"On paper we are favourites against Bolton, but only on paper. It's normal that Chelsea will win in theory, but we need to go out and achieve this."
