Coyle backs Elmander to shine

Bolton manager Owen Coyle has urged Johan Elmander to build on his performance in the Barclays Premier League opener against Fulham. Coyle was delighted with Elmander in last Saturday's goalless draw at the Reebok Stadium, even though the 29-year-old striker failed to bury two chances. The club's £8million record signing has yet to set English football alight, scoring just eight league goals in two seasons and 45 appearances. But Coyle believes it is only a matter of time before the Swedish international starts firing. "Johan was terrific in the game and what we need is for him to be consistent with that level of performance," said Coyle, quoted on Bolton's official website. "I'm sure that if he continues at that level of performance, then the goals will go in for him, it's as simple as that. I think he was one of the positives against Fulham."
