Allardyce was reported in a number of newspapers as being the top choice to take over at the City of Manchester Stadium should current boss Kevin Keegan resign or be given the sack, however the Wanderers boss says he is disappointed that the rumours should start ahead of the weekend clash between the two clubs and says any link is all just down to speculation.
"It's disappointing to read such speculation especially prior to the game with Manchester City and ahead of the Carling Cup Final. I suspect Kevin (Keegan) is even more disappointed. It's pure speculation" Allardyce told the official Bolton site.
