Bolton Wanderers chairman Phil Gartside has hit out at Udinese striker Carsten Jancker after the German's proposed move to Bolton Wanderers fell through at the last minute.

The 29-year old striker was due to join Bolton from the Serie A club yesterday on a pay as you play basis but the former Bayern Munich ace demanded a two-year contract upon his arrival in Lancashire which wasn't part of the initial agreement.

"He turned up at 10 o’clock yesterday and said he wanted a two-year contract,That wasn’t part of the deal that had been agreed with his agent. We wanted him as cover for Kevin Davies but it was always going to be on a pay-per-play basis.

Gartside said he was also disappointed at the players punctuality, Jancker (pictured) was due to fly into the country on Saturday but commitments with Udinese meant that he was required to stay behind to prepare for their league game with Modena. The player eventually arrived in Bolton yesterday morning to discuss a deal but there was conflict regarding the terms offered and he returned to Italy.

“It was unfortunate that he couldn’t fly in on Saturday as planned but on Sunday he was coming, then he wasn’t. The way it worked out was very disappointing.”

Liverpool defender Jon Otsemobor remained the only transfer deadline day signing after the 20-year old agreed on a loan deal until the end of June
