Third Division strugglers Carlisle United have signed former Bolton Wanderers utility player Paul Warhurst and he will go straight into their side for the clash with Macclesfield Town tommorow.

Warhurst 34, was released by the Trotters after just under 100 games in the summer and has since had short spells with both Chesterfield and Barnsley this season where he was on non-contract forms.

Along with his five year stint at the Reebok Stadium the experienced utility player has seen service with Manchester City, Oldham Athletic, Sheffield Wednesday, Blackburn Rovers, Crystal Palace, Stoke City, Chesterfield and Barnsley and his experience is sure to benefit Paul Simpson's side who are still hopeful of avoiding the drop into the Nationwide Conference
