Candela To Sway Dacourt

Vincent Candela may have swayed Olivier Dacourt into joining Bolton.

The former Leeds and Everton midfielder is up for grabs at a cut-price fee of £700,000, and Bolton are in the running to sign the French international.

Fellow frenchman Vincent Candela, who spent the remaining months of the season on loan in Lancashire opted not to turn his move into a permanent one, instead choosing to remain in Italy with Udinese, but has recommended the club to Dacourt.

Peter Harrison, Dacourts representative said, "Olivier has spoken to various French players who have been at Bolton, particularly Candela, who have said nice things about the club.

"The fact that they are in Europe now is also tempting bigger players. We're still talking and, hopefully, something will develop soon.

"No disrespect to Bolton, but three or four years ago deals like this would not have been possible. They have a good name in Europe now.

"That's obviously to do with the success the players have had on the pitch but it also has a lot to do with Sam Allardyce, who has raised the profile of the club."
