Ivan Campo has admitted that he feared the worst after picking up a facial injury during the weekend win against Crystal Palace.

The Spaniard thought that he had done some serious damage to his skull and cheekbone when colliding with team mate Gary Speed but tests have since come back clear to show no fracture meaning that the ex-Real Madrid player will be back in action in a fortnight from now.

"Initially I did fear the worst, When I got off the field I was in a right mess with blood everywhere. I calmed down when I got to the hospital and left it to the surgeons."

"I felt relaxed and relieved when I was told there was no fracture," he added.

The 30-year old is pleased he will not be out of action for long and is now aiming to keep his fitness levels up in time for a first team return around early November

"I should be back in action in a couple of weeks, which is great news, I've got to keep my fitness levels up and look forward to a return to first team football."
