Bolton Wanderers Assistant Manager Phil Brown is ready to commit to the club for the foreseeable future.

The 45-year old returned to the club eight years ago as the right hand man to previous manager Colin Todd after two years away from Burnden Park in a player-coaching role with Blackpool.

In 1999 he was appointed caretaker manager for four games following Todd's resignation and was to later renew his partnership as assistant manager to Sam Allardyce when the latter succeeded Todd in the Bolton managerial chair.

Now one of the most qualified coaches in the country Brown was interviewed for the Burnley job in the summer and was recently linked with the post at Preston North End with management something he is keen to take up in the long term but for now he says his future is at the Reebok Stadium.

"I've committed myself to Bolton for 14 years and I am willing to pledge myself to the club for the foreseeable future, But Sam knows I still have ambitions to be a manager." he said
