Brown backs Ba to improve Bolton

Bolton Wanderers Assistant Manager Phil Brown has said the imminent arrival of former AC Milan winger Ibrahim Ba will improve Wanderers prowess in front of goal, a quality which has been lacking in the opening four games of the season.

The former French international is expected to complete the formalities of his move once he receives clearance to play which should be in the early stages of next week and he gave those watching in the Carl Davenport testimonial in mid-week plenty to think about as he scored both goals to defeat Cork City at Turners Cross.

Nobody more so than former Bolton captain Brown was impressed with the former Marseille man's performance.

"Ibrahim Ba did very well" said Brown. "He scored two goals and showed a prowess in front of goal which we have probably missed in our opening four games".

"During the first half he played in one of the front three roles - in the wide left and wide right position. In the second half we went to a 4-4-2 and he enjoyed a midfield role" speaking of the players versatility.

"He prefers the wide right or midfield berth but the system we play in he seems quite equipped to play in both wide roles"

"He's quite happy to be here, he's liked what he has seen. He is a little short on Premiership match fitness but has proved he can play some part in a Premiership match" added the Bolton Assistant Boss.

A deal for the Free Agent Ba is expected to be completed by Monday
