Bolton Wanderers are one of five Premiership clubs said to interested in securing the services of Parma midfielder Marco Bresciano who is set to leave the Italian club in the summer for a knockdown fee.

Any move for the Australian international would depend on how much money Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce is given to spend over the summer however it could well be that the Bolton boss focuses his attentions on cheaper targets elswhere as the Italians are said to want at least £2 million for the player they paid Empoli over £10 million for in the 2001-2002 season.

Premiership rivals Newcastle United, Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur are also said to be in the hunt to sign the midfielder but it appears that Middlesbrough are winning the race to snap up the Melbourne born player and are looking to set up discussions in the very near future.

Bresciano is just one of a flurry of names to be linked to the club during the spring as speculation this time of year is usually rife, however Allardyce has previously stated he will wait until the end of the European Championships before making any serious moves in the transfer market.
