Borgetti Deal Back On?

Jared Borgetti now seems likely to join Bolton after earlier reports in the media implied he had already signed a deal with Saudi Arabia club, Al Ittihad.

The 31-year-old striker is currently on national team duty with Mexico at the Concacaf Gold Cup tournament in the USA where after scoring twice against Guatemala in the group stages he is tied with Carlos Hermosillo and Luis Hernandez as his country’s all-time leading goalscorer on 35.

Mexico coach Ricardo Lavolpe said of his captain after that match. "Borgetti is a goal scorer. He does very well in getting away from defenders and is able to find the goal at will."

In his own country, Borgetti has been a regular goalscorer for Pachuca and in earlier spells for Santos and Dorados.

Meanwhile, Bolton are being strongly linked with defender Fernando Couto, Dutch midfielder Andy van der Meyde and previous Bolton loanee Bernard Mendy.

Only time will tell if any deals can be completed.
