Reo-Coker, who was released by Aston Villa at the end of last season, has signed a two-year deal at the Reebok Stadium.
The midfielder, a former England under-21 captain, has been on the verge of a call-up to the senior squad in the past and last year rejected an invitation to play for Sierra Leone.

Asked if he had his sights set on reviving his England prospects having signed for Bolton, Reo-Coker said: 'Yes, definitely. Playing consistently makes a difference and I hope having come here to get consistent games, and then we will go from there.'
The 27-year-old certainly has the backing of his new manager Owen Coyle.
'We'd love to get him back to that level because I believe he's capable of doing that,' the Bolton boss said.

'For us, he brings real Premier League experience and quality. He is strong in possession and strong in the tackle. He keeps the ball the well, keeps it moving and I think he has great football intelligence.
'This is a real opportunity and a platform for him to show everybody what we believe - that he is a top class player.'
It took no time for Coyle to convince Reo-Coker that moving to Bolton was the right thing to do.
'Things happened at Villa at the end of the season - things were said and a situation kind of occurred,' Reo-Coker said.
'Itwas time to move on. I contacted Owen Coyle and we had a meeting, a good conversation. After that, it was simple - I knew it was the right move for me.
'I wasn't offered a new contract at Villa so it was time for a new start and this is a new chapter in my life.
'I had been there for four years and Ithink in modern-day football that is quite a long time. It was a great four years and I can't say anything bad about it, but now it is a new beginning for me.
'The manager here told me his plans and what he is looking to achieve with the club, and he didn't need to say any more after that.
'Itwas a great meeting, but also you do your research in football, speak to other people, and every player that I have spoken to who has worked under him has nothing but praise for him.

'Theyspoke so highly of him and when I met him, after the first two or threeminutes I could see why. It just felt right for me.'
Reo-Cokerwas one of three new players snapped up by Bolton this week, with midfielder Chris Eagles and defender Tyrone Mears also arriving having both signed from Burnley on three-year deals.
