Bolton Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce has confirmed an interest in taking Arsenal's England U21 star David Bentley on loan for the next campaign.

Bentley 19, has impressed when given the opportunity in the Gunners first team this season, but the champions recent signing of attacking midfielder Robin Van Persie has further pushed the youngster down the pecking order at Highbury and with that in mind Arsene Wenger is said to be ready to allow the Peterborough born attacker to temporarily leave the club so he can get regular first team football and this has prompted interest from Allardyce who says he would be interested in moving for the player.

The Bolton boss beleives a move away for Bentley will help emulate the success of Arsenal team mate Jermaine Pennant who was loaned out this season and has been one of the success stories in a relegated Leeds United side and says a move would be a "possibility".

"Bentley would be a possibility for us on a loan deal, Pennant has come on leaps and bounds since going to Leeds and Bentley could do the same. Even if they don't want to take him back his value will increase having played Premiership football rather than reserve games." Allardyce said
