Bolton Take On Boro In Final

Bolton Wanderers will face Middlesbrough in the Carling Cup Final later this month as the Teeside club defeated Arsenal 2-1 at the Riverside Stadium last night.

Both sides will come head to head at the Millennium Stadium on Sunday 29th February 2004 after an own goal by Gunners winger Jose Antonio Reyes five minutes from time ensured Boro booked their first visit to Cardiff to tackle the Wanderers.

The Trotters reached the final nine years ago when they lost out 2-1 to Liverpool thanks to a brace from Steve McManaman whilst Alan Thompson replied for Bolton.

Boro looking for their first major trophy in 129 years, lost out to both Chelsea and Leicester City in recent seasons in the final of the competition so both teams will be eager to produce a good final which would ensure one of them books their place in the UEFA cup for the first time in their long histories.
