Bolton Snap Up Howey To Ease Defensive Woes

Last updated : 29 January 2004 By Mark Heys
Bolton Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce has signed Leicester City defender Steve Howey on a short term contract until the end of the season, subject to a medical and he could be available for the Trotters match with Charlton Athletic at the weekend.

The 32-year old only joined the Foxes in the summer from Manchester City but Allardyce has moved in quickly to bring the former England international back to the North West to ease his defensive problems.

Sunderland-born Howey has also spent over ten years with Newcastle United where he made over 200 appearances for the Magpies before a £2 million move to City in 2000 where he was a key figure in their defensive line up. He has a wealth of Premiership experience and will be a useful addition to the Wanderers team.

We at BoltonMAD would like to wish Steve well during his time at the Reebok Stadium. His profile can be found on the Players section of the site
