Hull City have agreed a deal to sign Bolton Wanderers striker Jonathan Walters for an initial fee of £50,000 and the finalities of the deal are expected to be rubber stamped by next Tuesday.

Walters 20, had a successful loan spell with the Tigers last season and the Hull manager Peter Taylor had been keen to recruit the Republic of Ireland U21 star for a second spell to aid their promotion push from Division Three and now it seems he has got his man.

"We're delighted to have him back, He was perfect for us last season and, because he is only 20, is only going to improve. I know people are going to have a go at us for spending a few more bob for a Third Division side, but nine times out of 10, the players we have brought in are under 21. Jon is another one who is very much one for the future." Taylor said.

The former Blackburn Rovers Academy player joined Wanderers in the summer of 2002 for a nominal fee but could only manage four Premiership appearances from the substitutes bench. However he seemed to do well when sent out on loan to the Tigers and had similar spells with both Crewe Alexandra and Barnsley this season.
