Bolton Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce has been linked with a transfer deadline swoop for former Juventus defender Moreno Torricelli and could be set to offer the veteran a short term deal with the Trotters.

The 34-year old Italian is currently out of favour with Spanish side Espanyol and Allardyce could see the player as an ideal stop gap in his current defensive crisis which has robbed him of the services of both Ricardo Gardner and Florent Laville due to long term injuries.

Torricelli who has also spent time with the now defunct club Fiorentina can offer the Bolton manager versitility as he can play in either full back position, however the only down side is that the player would be lacking in fitness having not played regularly since December.
