It has been confirmed that the Bolton Wanderers first team squad will spend the next week training at the Playa de las Americas training camp in Tenerife.

Bolton manager Sam Allardyce was keen for his players to take a break from their usual surroundings and is hoping that the trip to the Mediterranian island will refresh his squad in time for their away trip to Newcastle United next weekend.

"We have been planning this for a while and it is important that the players have a change of scenery. I am taking 21 players on the camp with the objective of training at an elite level in excellent weather conditions. It also gives me the opportunity to spend some quality time with squad and focus on the key issues without any interruptions.

"Modern transportation methods means that taking the squad to the Mediterranean can be made without any disruption to our normal routine."

The Wanderers have previously held training camps in Italy, Portugal and Poland over the past few seasons in an attempt to find new training techniques and improve team bonding.
