Bolton Await Jardel Contact

Brazilian striker Mario Jardel has gone missing once again in a move which will no doubt seal the end to his time as a Bolton Wanderers player unless a reasonable explanation can be given.

The former Golden Boot winner was told to report to the Wanderers training camp at their Bolton School headquarters yesterday but failed to turn up meaning that the writing must surely be on the wall for a player who much was expected of when moving from Sporting Lisbon just under a year ago.

It is the latest in a long line of rebellious behaviour from the one time darling of Portuguese soccer. Last season whilst on loan with Italian side Ancona he went absent without leave just three games into his temporary stay in Italy whilst back here in England he has also been told to report back to Bolton on a number of occasions but has preferred to stay in his native Brazil where he has been touted for moves to a number of clubs including Palmeiras but even when an agreement looked likely for a loan move the deal hit complications at the last minute.

Jardel has an impressive record having scored over 350 goals in European Soccer but his attitute to his game at the moment is proving to put off any potential bidders. Last summer he arrived in Bolton grossly overweight and even when he gained fitness he struggled to cope with the pace of Premiership football so now it seems unless Jardel can mend the error of his ways then Sam Allardyce, the Bolton manager will have no option but to part with the 30-year old striker.
