Coyle, who led the Clarets to the Premier League, controversially quit the east Lancashire club for the Reebok Stadium in January.
He took coaches Steve Davis and Phil Hughes with him and experienced forward Blake then followed on a free transfer in the summer.
They will all return to Turf Moor in three weeks' time after the two clubs were paired in the third round of the Carling Cup.
Blake, 34, said: "I think I will need to get my tin hat ready! I would have preferred it to be next season in the Premier League but it was probably meant to be with the gaffer and myself.
"I couldn't believe it. It is a great tie to be involved in but it is going to be a difficult game.
"The gaffer did a great job there. I doubt he will get a great reception but once the game starts I am sure it will all be forgotten.
"You want to play in those games. I will go there and enjoy it and I am sure it will be a great atmosphere.
"They will fancy their chances but if we can go there and play well I am sure we can go through."
Blake went some way to earning a place in the affections of Bolton fans with a stunning equaliser against another of his old clubs, Birmingham, on Sunday.
Blake curled home a brilliant free-kick nine minutes from time to complete a fine comeback by the 10-men Trotters after falling two goals behind in a fiery Premier League clash.
The former Bradford and Leeds player said: "It was nice to put it in the back of the net.
"It showed we have got great character at the club and great belief in ourselves as a team.
"Not many teams will come from 2-0 down with 10 men and get a point.
"It is fantastic here, it's a great set of lads. I am really enjoying it and we have started very well as well.
"We are still unbeaten and we want to keep that going."
