Allardyce said: "It's very disappointing and very upsetting for me as I picked that side as I believed it was good enough to win.
"Our fans paid good money to be entertained and they have been let down. I have to take that on the chin and take the blame, but these players were telling me they were good enough for the first team.
"They have let themselves down, the fans down and let the club down.
"However, Bury were outstanding, were full of enthusiasm and running and played for each other."
