Bolton Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce was full of praise for his side after they managed to match a strong Inter Milan team during today's 1-0 defeat at the Reebok Stadium.

"It was a fantastic workout for my players, The level of Inter Milan and their quality was amazing. They had tremendous ability on the ball and their strength in depth was there for all to see. They made life extremely difficult for us and it is exactly the right game we were looking for to pushes us on to the first Premiership start." he told the official site

Allardyce was also happy with the way that his side managed to keep up with the pace of the game and gave credit to new pair Julio Cesar and Fernando Hierro who only recently joined the Wanderers at the end of the last week having received the relevant clearance.

"My players coped well with the pace of the game and I'm very satisfied with the effort and commitment shown by them."

"I was pleased with the new boys.Julio Cesar looks a quality player and will add a new dimension to our game.He is equally adept at centre back or at left back.In the second half, when he moved to left back, I was pleased with the way he linked up with Ricardo Gardner down that left flank.

"Fernando Hierro came on for the last 20 minutes.Once he adapts to the pace of the Premiership he will be good for us.Fitness and match preparation will take time and I don't want to rush him through.I'll be patient and wait until he is right for the demands of first team football."
