Barnsley are hoping to extend the loan period of Bolton Wanderers striker Jonathan Walters in a deal which will see the Republic of Ireland U21 international remain at Oakwell until the end of the current season.

Walters 20, spent a similar spell on loan with Crewe Alexandra earlier in the season but failed to make the first team at the Alex and has since been loaned to the Yorkshire side where he has failed to score so far.

A spokesman confirmed the two clubs are trying to sort something out with regards to an extension to the loan

"We're trying to sort something out for another month but nothing's been done yet. He's not scored yet but we are keen to keep him beyond this weekend."

Meanwhile another young Wanderers star, Danny Livesey has returned from a successful two month spell with Third Division Notts County.
