Barney Hopes Things Will Improve

Anthony Barness insists that he will put his early season disappointment behind him, and focus on the job of getting Bolton Wanderers back up the Premiership table.

The former Charlton Athletic and Chelsea full back has featured in only a handful of games for the Wanderers first team this term, but was able to make a telling contribution during the defeat to Manchester City last weekend.

Barness was pressed into action due to the fact that regular right back Nicky Hunt was suspended having collected five bookings. The Lewisham born ace grabbed his chance with both hands and was one of few players to come out of the City defeat with any credit.

"I've been very frustrated this season. There were a lot of changes over the summer, but I still felt confident. I thought that I'd had a good pre-season.
It has been disappointing to have so few chances, but that's going to happen as the club gets bigger. I've just got to try to take my chance when it comes again. " he said

The 31-year old has seen Bolton progress ten fold in his five seasons at the club but says that they must get over their bad run of form as soon as possible.

"I was disappointed with the City game. I felt things went OK for me but it's the result that matters. When we came into the Premiership, we had this kind of pressure on us nearly every week because, if we didn't win, we knew we would drop into the bottom three, We haven't had quite the same pressure, but the longer this little run goes on, the more it starts to look as if it could return."
