West Bromwich Albion defender Riccardo Scimeca believes that referee Mike Dean was right not to award Bolton Wanderers a penalty during the New Years Day clash at the Reebok Stadium.

Bolton where furious that the Wirrall based official waved away a second half penalty appeal after Scimeca appeared to have handled Kevin Nolan's acrobatic goalbound effort.

The former Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest star is of the opinion that the incident was more a case of ball to hand rather than the other way around and backed Mr Dean's decision not to award the spot kick.

"I thought it was ball to hand,My arm was up there anyway and it wasn't intentional. Sometimes they go for you, sometimes they don't. I'm just pleased I got away with it." he said
