Armstrong talks on-going

Armstrong was released by Spurs at the end of last season and has been holding talks with Bolton officials over the possibility of a move to the Reebok Stadium.

Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce has confirmed that both parties have already had a chat. Although nothing has been finalised and discussions are set to continue this week.

He said: “We’ve had a chat and nothing has been concluded yet. We’ll have another chat on Monday and take it from there.

"It’s been such a long time since Chris has played and, when we’ve covered his terms, he’ll need to have a medical. That will determine whether we can go any further.”

“We need strength in depth on the front line and I think Dean Holdsworth, Henrik Pedersen and Michael Ricketts are all very good strikers, but I don’t think three is enough.

“The 31 August is getting ever closer and hopefully we can sort something out next week.”
