American keeper Troy Perkins is training at Bolton
D.C United goalkeeper Troy Perkins is to begin a ten day trial with Bolton Wanderers as he looks to get himself ready for the start of the Major League Soccer season which begins at the end of this month.

The 23-year old will be put through his paces at the Reebok Stadium over the next week, but there is no indication yet as to whether or not he will be considered as a permanent recruit to Sam Allardyce's cosmopolitan Wanderers team.

Ohio-born Perkins will be expected to link up with his current club before the end of January as they look to topple the dominence of Columbas Crew in the Eastern Conference of Major League soccer.

Bolton have been on the lookout for another goalkeeper for quite some time with Oman international Ali Al-Habsi also being considered as an alternative should Wanderers be able to generate the funds.
