Allardyce Wants Player Insurance

Sam Allardyce wants Fifa and Uefa to set up an insurance policy to end rows between club and country.

The Bolton boss believes such a scheme would ensure clubs are properly compensated by national associations if players are injured on international duty.

"Insurance is the word for it, and it is my solution," said Allardyce.

"There's a case to be made when players go on international duty and return injured, you should get compensation."

Allardyce added: "We pay these lads a lot of money to play football.

"If they can't play for you, through no fault of your own, I don't see why we should still have to fork out the wages.

"Anyone will find the right solution if they put the insurance bond up.

"So if Fifa or Uefa make sure that is going to happen, and they are the ones who can buy the insurance universally, then everybody in the national associations can put the funding in."

Meanwhile, Bolton Wanderers Football Club have announced improved pre-tax profits for the last financial year.

The Trotters have returned a total profit of £3.9 million which represents an increase of £1.3 million over the last 12 months.

"It is again pleasing to report continued progress across the business," stated Burnden Leisure plc chief executive Allan Duckworth.
