Bolton Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce has vowed that he will resist any imminent bids that are expected for star midfielder and captain Jay-Jay Okocha during the January transfer window.

Big Sam insisted that any potential interested party would be disappointed as he is keen to keep hold of the former Paris Saint Germain player and is looking at extending the player's current deal which is due to run out over the summer.

"I would think possibly 'yes, there will be bids for Jay Jay', But I thought that would happen last summer rather than this January. There wasn't a better player in the Premiership for the last 12-15 games of the season" Allardyce told the Manchester Evening News

"But no amount of money will encourage me to sell him, because I can't use it. We've got to pay the debt off. I would feel more encouraged to give him a new contract than sell him."

Allardyce also claimed that the Nigerian is enjoying life in Bolton and said that a move elswhere may not turn out to be the best option for the 30-year old Olympic Gold Medalist.

"He's got the bug for Bolton, He shows every time he goes on the field how much he enjoys his football. Sometimes being somewhere bigger than here isn't always the best. You have to be careful where you go to, because we provide such an excellent service for our players." he added
