Allardyce Rules Out Yorke Move

Bolton Wanderers will no longer be pursuing their interest in the former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke after his club Blackburn Rovers insisted that they want a fee for the Trinidad and Tobago star.

A number of clubs have been interested in aquiring the services of the once prolific 32-year old striker with Portsmouth the latest club in the frame despite the player having said to have reconciled with Rovers manager Graeme Souness during the midweek game at Stockport County.

Bolton manager Sam Allardyce said that Rovers insistence on a fee of around £500,000 has ruled his side out of the race to sign the player prefering instead to keep funds free for four possible targets in other positions.

"Now a transfer fee is involved, then I wouldn't. The midfield needs strengthening, maybe another full-back and we need a goalkeeper, a centre-forward and a wide man with more pace than we've got."

Big Sam was concerned at the lack of bodies on the Bolton bench during the loss to Inter Milan this afternoon as Academy stars Ricky Shakes, Bradley Hill, Duong Thach, James Sinclair, Reda Kribib and Bedi Buval where all named in reserve for the clash against Roberto Mancini's side which ended in a 1-0 scoreline to the Italians.

"We did not have enough squad to put on the bench to complete in a match of this quality, If we don't get a big enough squad then we'll pay a big price for that. We've got to have 20 players to compete in the Premiership." he added.

Meanwhile the club are sweating on the fitness of young left back Jason Talbot after the teenager was strechered off during yesterday's 2-2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday. The youngster has only recently made a competitive comeback following a spell on the treatment table.
