And with four matches in a week, starting against Sunderland on Boxing Day, they are all likely to feature at some stage.

Despite scoring four goals in cup games, Borgetti has yet to start a Premiership match after arriving in the summer. Allardyce has told him to raise his game.

"I am sure he will get the opportunity to produce something over the Christmas period," said the Bolton boss. "We hope he can reproduce good form, not just goals.

"It is not all about goals, playing in the Premiership, and certainly not in the position he plays in.

"It is the contribution you make outside the box as well as in it. We have to get more from Jared outside the box.

"We also have to get extra from Nakata and Okocha. These big players have to be contributing more than they have done recently."

Meanwhile, Blackburn, Bolton, Everton and West Ham are all reported to be showing an interest in Hungarian international Peter Halmosi.

The 26-year-old left winger almost joined Everton in the summer, but his club Debrecen refused the deal.
