Allardyce - Shirt Rule Stupid

Sam Allardyce has slammed a new FIFA ruling which prevents players from taking their shirts off during goal celebrations calling the new regulations "stupid".

The Bolton boss is the latest manager to voice his disapproval over the ruling and told Radio Five live that he wholeheartedly doesn't agree with it after seeing that Everton's Australian midfielder Tim Cahill was sent off over the weekend for what was described as over celebrating after scoring against Manchester City.

"There are FIFA posters in dressing rooms telling players not to do this but just because it is a FIFA ruling doesn't make it right. It is a stupid rule but we have to stick by some stupid rules.

"Cahill scored and spun away but we have to distinguish between reasonable celebrations and unreasonable celebrations. You can't go around swinging the shirt round your neck but he didn't do that."
