Algerian on Trial

Bolton Wanderers have handed a trial to Troyes defender Meniri Medhi after the Algerian was told that he could leave the Stade de L'Aube following their relegation from Le Championnat.

The 25-year old former Nancy player made 20 appearances last season but suffered injury towards the latter part of the campaign but is very highly rated in France and will be hoping to impress Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce enough in the coming days as he steps up his search for new recruits ahead of Sunday's deadline and Medhi who was rumoured to be training with the club last week could be the solution.

Meanwhile the club look to have progressed no further in their attempts to sign Sunderland defender Emerson Thome and it is thought the Trotters could drop their interest completely if the Brazilian doesn't make his mind up over a move to Bolton soon, a severence payment owed from the players transfer from Chelsea to Sunderland is said to be the sticking point in allowing the player to move on from The Stadium of Light.
