Wolverhampton Wanderers Preview

Last updated : 26 September 2003 By Mark Heys
Bolton are expected to recall the likes of Jussi Jaaskelainen, Youri Djorkaeff, Ivan Campo and Emerson Thome who all missed the midweek Carling Cup victory over Walsall, for their important game against Premiership basement club Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Games between Bolton and the Midlands side usually do not pass without a talking point, which has been the case going back to the days when both clubs where in the Nationwide League. In 1997 there was a 22-man brawl in which both clubs where considerably fined whilst ex-Trotters striker John McGinlay isn't a favourite of the Wolves for his exploits in the 1995 Play Offs.

Bolton will be hoping to continue their excellent home form which has been carried over from last season whilst Dave Jones side will be hoping to add to their singular point on the board in a bid to kick start their season so both clubs will have an insentive for the game at The Reebok Stadium tommorow.

As well as welcoming back the quartet who missed the Walsall game the Bolton manager Sam Allardyce will also be hoping to call on the services of on loan Burnley winger Glen Little who came through a reserve match unscathed after a hamstring injury. Florent Laville is a long term absentee whilst former French international Ibrahim Ba will miss the game because of a calf injury sustained in midweek but Ricardo Gardner and Kevin Davies will be promoted from the bench to play.

Wolves welcome back Scottish international Kenny Miller following a hernia operation and the former Rangers player is expected to partner ex-Trotters striker Nathan Blake in attack. Former Manchester United duo Paul Ince and Denis Irwin will play after being rested for midweek cup action against Darlington and recent signings Joey Gudjonsson and Hassan Kachloul are expected to travel up to Lancashire with the squad to play some part.

From a Bolton point of view they must capitalise on a low confidence Wolves side, but Dave Jones side will be all out to get a positive result at the Reebok and will see a side like Bolton as the perfect time to kick start their season so Big Sam has to make sure the home run continues and that we get the three points in the Battle of the Wanderers.
